Welcome to Dan, our new Volunteer Co-ordinator
Volunteers have always been at the heart of service delivery at MASH. We currently have around 45 volunteers and we couldn’t manage without them.
Volunteers work alongside staff on the Van late at night traveling around the streets of Manchester offering support to the vulnerable women working on the streets. They also go with our Nurse to the massage parlous to find women who would like help, and every day we rely on 3 volunteers to help staff run the Drop-In centre.
Angela, who volunteered for MASH explains ‘I originally got into volunteering as I was not fulfilled by my job in the corporate world and felt that I had no personal motivation. Being given the opportunity to give something back and help at MASH made me feel alive inside again.
I came into the drop-in centre once a week for 3 hours and helped by welcoming the women in. It’s an important role as some women who have not visited before can be quite nervous and I tried to make them feel welcome and make them a drink and some food.’
Dan is looking forward to meeting all our volunteers and has the in-enviable task of putting together the rotas to ensure all our services are covered. There is more information about volunteering for MASH on the website.
MASH is currently recruiting a new cohort of volunteers. If you are interested you can find out more ring Dan for a chat on 0161 273 4555 or complete our on-line application form.
Volunteers will be asked to commit to 1 x 3 hour shift each week. Full training and supervision is given. Suitable applicants will be invited to an information evening in late September 2014 and then invited to attend an interview.
