Manchester Women’s charity seeks new volunteers
Would you like to join MASH’s award winning Volunteering team?
MASH is a Manchester charity that provides free help and support to women sex workers (women in prostitution).
In the the last year MASH helped over 800 women. The small MASH staff team rely on over 60 dedicated volunteers to deliver services alongside them.
MASH provide help from outreach projects (going out directly to women working on the streets and in saunas) and from the MASH Drop-In Centre. We are currently looking for volunteers to help in the Drop-In Centre, based 5 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station. At the Drop-In Centre we offer meals, health services, activities and life-changing 1-on-1 support from experienced Case Workers.
The initial role of the volunteers is to provide a friendly welcome to women in the Drop-In Centre and offer food and drink . However training is available for volunteers to progress to helping women with their paperwork, telephone calls or to take part in activities.
We are looking for volunteers to help on afternoon sessions (12:30pm – 3:30pm) Mon – Fri.
We usually take on volunteers who can commit to being here one afternoon a week.
All volunteers receive full training. Previous experience is not essential.
Dan, our Volunteer Co-ordinator, is hosting an Information Evening on Thursday 22nd September for people who are interested in finding out more. To attend please contact Dan on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0161 273 4555. (To attend you need to have spoken with Dan first – thanks).
We are very interested in volunteers with Romanian & Hungarian language skills.
