Changes at MASH
There are many changes at the moment for women sex working, especially women working on the streets: We’re seeing changes in women’s times of working, more Eastern European women, a difference in where women are working, and a plan to re-develop the streets around the beat to include new housing and a hotel which will have a huge impact.
As always we are ready the take on the changes and the challenges! We are currently developing a flexible and responsive strategy to see us through to 2020.
We value the opinions of everyone involved and over the next couple of months will be asking volunteers and other stakeholders for your input.
There will also be some immediate changes:
From the 6th March we are running an 8-week pilot changing Monday’s Drop-In session to 3pm – 6pm, a time when we have seen more women around the area.
Caroline, our Homelessness Worker, will start a regular, later Outreach session to reach more women on the beat.
And we are also developing a plan to fundraise for a Mobile Unit and a Romanian Case Worker to have a more regular presence in Cheetham Hill.
It’s crucial that vulnerable women can always access help and support, and we hope you are with us all the way!
