What our Partners Say

“MASH have been at the forefront of supporting and working with a previously hard to reach client group, and as a direct result of their partnership work with Greater Manchester Police, we are now seeing an increase in reports from sex workers.

This has also been coupled with a greater confidence from victims, due to the work of MASH. In a recent inspection of Greater Manchester Police by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, the partnership approach to rape and serious sexual offenses was praised as outstanding.

MASH have been a key partner in the landscape across Manchester, and have done much to influence police training and improve the way we respond to vulnerable victims. They have played an active role within the Strategic Partnership Group on tackling rape and serious sexual offenses.”

Detective Superintendent Phil Owen
Public Protection Division
Greater Manchester Police

“The work in the community undertaken by MASH is invaluable in terms of improving the sexual health of female sex workers in Manchester. In our experience, sex workers are often reluctant to attend hospitals for screening, and are difficult to engage with for long term projects such as completing hepatitis B vaccination programmes. The work undertaken by MASH prevents infections and is an asset to the public health of Manchester.”

Lindsey Shone
Senior Health Adviser and Clinic Manager
North Manchester General Hospital

“MASH attends HMP & YOI Styal on a weekly basis. This work is an excellent example of community engagement and how community projects can support and enhance the Prison Service aims of addressing offending behavior and reducing re-offending. MASH offer an invaluable service to HMP Styal.”

Andy Nay
DPSM, Regimes Manager, Styal

“We believe MASH to have a great impact on the women they work with while in prison. With MASH coming into the prison this provides good through-care for women when they are released and have a support package already put in place.”
