CEO Sleepout Manchester
WHEN: Monday, 16 October, 2017
We are looking for senior executives from Manchester to join the fight against homelessness and poverty by taking part in CEO Sleepout 2017 spending a night sleeping outdoors.
Last years event
Last year over 80 CEO’s & senior executives took part from local companies such as Duff & Phelps, Camargue Chambers LLP, Carter Corson and Firecask and raised an amazing £63,000 in sponsorship which was donated to local charities tackling homelessness including MASH.
Worsley-based businessman, Mark Butler, is Vice-Chair of MASH and as a former volunteer for the organisation has first-hand experience of supporting homeless women and helping them through the challenges of not having a bed for the night.

Sleeping under the stars
At the 2016 event he joined other company CEO’s and the Bishop of Manchester spending the night sleeping on the pitch at Emirates Old Trafford. He said ‘It was a real challenge, although we were lucky with the weather, it was still cold and uncomfortable. Unfortunately there are many people in Manchester that won’t have the opportunity to back to their warm beds the next day, which is why I felt it was important to take part and raise as much money as possible’

MASH are on the hunt for local business leaders like Jules Wilson of Rule 5 who is keen to tackle homelessness with direct action “When I was approached by MASH to participate I didn’t hesitate to sign up. I’m delighted to be able to play a small part in tackling a significant issue.”
CEO Sleepout challenge everyone taking part to raise £1,000 in sponsorship. There will be a leader board of the top 10 fundraisers on the CEO Manchester website to encourage some friendly competition!
As you will probably know MASH is a local charity that helps women trapped in sex work (prostitution). Homelessness is one of the biggest issues for many women sex working on the streets of Manchester. A recent survey showed that 80% of these women are currently homeless or have been homeless at some point.
We are in need of funds to support the vital work of our Homelessness Worker, whose expertise and determination has led to helping 14 women off the street into housing in the last 6 months,
She works with women with combination of needs such as addictions, mental health problems, debts and isolation. Many of these women have fallen through the net of other support services and have no-where else to turn.
On the CEO Sleepout website you can see who has already signed up and sign up quickly and easily yourself. (Please mention MASH!).
